Japan made a bad bet on hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. The production of hydrogen from water require 4 times the energy that is obtained from using the hydrogen in fuel cells.

If consumers are willing to pay the price, China is capable to supply products of any quality level. One thing I noticed is that lots of Chinese brands sold in overseas are low end model, high end models are only sold in China. I guess it will take longer for Chinese companies to build reputations among foreign markets before they are willing to shell out more money for Chinese premium products
