Japan made a bad bet on hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. The production of hydrogen from water require 4 times the energy that is obtained from using the hydrogen in fuel cells.

One thing I noticed is that lots of Chinese brands sold in overseas are low end model, high end models are only sold in China. I guess it will take longer for Chinese companies to build reputations among foreign markets before they are willing to shell out more money for Chinese premium products
